Fugitive Art Center presents Change of Pace (growth), a two-part installation by Nashville artist Shaun Slifer. The exhibit will run from 5 May to 9 June, 2001. There will be an opening reception on Saturday, 5 May, 2001, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
The first installation, "Where I’m From", deals with population growth in the satellite towns near major cities and the psychological impact of the relentless architectural redundancy of suburban sprawl.
The second untitled installation addresses the more personal issues of the artist's separation from his best friend in Collierville and his former lifestyle there.
Shaun received an Associate Degree in Fine Art from Watkins College of Art & Design last year. This fall he will be continuing his education at Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon.
