Painting on an Incline

August 31, 2002
through October 5, 2002

Opening reception: Saturday
August 31, 7:00PM to 9:00PM

The Fugitive Art Center presents for the first time in its three-year history a group exhibition entirely devoted to the discipline of painting. Six artists from around the U.S. have been invited to participate in this exhibit, which promises to lay to rest the grossly exaggerated rumors of contemporary painting’s demise. Painting On An Incline is a broad sampling of how six painters (each contributing three to four pieces) continue to flourish, reproduce, and reinvent themselves in these all-too-post modern times while still speaking with a directness of vision and simplicity of means that is painting’s greatest and refreshing strength.
